DNC Member, Jason Rae, endorses Chris Buckel in his bid for the
29th Assembly District seat
Hammond, WI – Wisconsin Democratic National Committee Member Jason Rae has endorsed Chris Buckel, D-Hammond, in his bid for the 29th Assembly District seat. Buckel is one of the two Democratic candidates for the 29th Assembly District primary on September 9th. The winner will face Craig Moen, a Libertarian candidate from Hammond, and incumbent John Murtha, a Republican from Baldwin in the November election.
"I am so proud to support Chris Buckel for the State Assembly. Chris is the type of leader we need in Madison," said Rae. "Chris will work to make sure that college is affordable for all students, that we reign in property taxes, and that all people are provided with quality health care. He can come in to office on day one and be an active advocate for the people of western Wisconsin because he truly understands Wisconsin values."
Buckel is currently a school teacher at St. Croix Central High School where he teaches social studies. He also works with high school students in St. Croix Central’s Service Learning Program and is the student council advisor. He and his wife of 14 years, Jonalee, and four children live in Hammond. Buckel is currently serving his second two year term on the Hammond Village Board and represents Hammond on the St. Croix County Economic Development Loan Review Committee.
Rae is currently a senior at Marquette University in Milwaukee. He is originally from Rice Lake and has family in New Richmond. He is in his second term as a DNC Member and was the youngest person ever elected to the DNC at the age of 17. Rae serves as the Chair of the DNC Youth Council, which he helped found, and the Democratic Party of Wisconsin's Platforms and Resolutions Committee. In addition to his posts as a DNC member, Rae chairs the College Democrats of Wisconsin and was appointed by Governor Jim Doyle to the Governor’s Commission on the United Nations.
"I'm honored to have the support of Jason Rae," said Buckel in response to the endorsement. "Jason has been a real leader in the Democratic Party, both in this state and nationally. He understands that we need a plan for lasting Democratic victories and I'm so happy that he sees me as a part of that plan."
